Michelle Woods studied the Central Saints Martins Foundation course in London, before completing the first two years of the fashion design course of the Fashion Department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. In addition to her studies, Woods has completed an internship at the house of Balenciaga in Paris, in addition to assisting the Brussels-based designer Pierre-Antoine Vettorello. She is also the baker at the RA Kitchen in Antwerp, and forms one quarter of the Antwerp-based art collective LVMM.
The British-Philippine designer designer Michelle Woods presented 'Leisure, Sleep and Sport' at RA Paris in September 2012 as a capsule collection for SS13 of comfortable home, cooking and sleeping clothes (with the possibility of wearing out of home and/or for sport). Woods' designs are inspired by the lifestyle of the 19th century English aristocrat Ottoline Morrell and going to the gym. Fabrics include silk, cotton, lace, some sports and stretch fabrics with details of hand-embroidery and patchwork. The collection's in-and-out slipper pumps are designed and made by Laura Welker.
In 2013, the minds of Anna Kushnerova & Michelle Woods came together and they joined their artful fingers to create PEARLIS, a line of bespoke women garments.
Stemming from an intimate collaboration of the two designers minds and souls, PEARLIS's first collection proposes a romantic & crafty interpretation of the modern summer garde-robe through eight fanciful silhouettes and shoe designs that will suit musical women on their daily and nocturnal ventures.
