Serkan Cura

In addition to his professional experience in the couture and pret-a-porter ateliers of Paris, Serkan Cura studied fashion design at the Royal Academy of Antwerp in 2007, wherein the young designer was free to discover his most fantastic creative dreams. Serkan’s graduate collection explored absurdist tone-on-tone silhouettes with oversized structured jackets or full skirts, realised in a multitude of handcrafted textures. At the end of his studies, Serkan was accepted by the Parisian fashion house Jean Paul Gaultier, where he worked in the design atelier for four years “carrying out the wishes of the genius of fashion”. For the Spring Summer 2012 Haute Couture season, Serkan presents his namesake collection at RA Paris, with his eye and hand fixed upon feathers as his medium of choice. The designer has developed unique techniques of feather applique on garments (Serkan claims his plumed creations can even go in the washing machine). “My only dream now is to give pleasure, and the desire to escape in a cloud of feathers and softness. What's better than wearing a second skin to complete one’s own natural beauty?” - Serkan Cura
